The Ultimate Writer’s Tool

My desk and bookshelves are scattered with the tools of my trade. Books, conferences, mentoring clinics, critique groups, and a bevy of online authors/agents/editors/publishers/marketers blogs are available in abundance. I could stay so busy reading about writing, and learning about writing, that I would never accomplish any writing.

To be honest, I have many of those days. And then the days I pull my chair up to my desk, a computer screen with an empty word document mocks me. The doubts trounce across my shoulders and whisper in my ear, “You aren't a writer … you’re wasting your time … what do you have to offer that anyone would actually want to read?"

Whimper.

But then The voice of truth whispers, stronger with certainty…”You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. The one who calls you is faithful and He will do it. For nothing is impossible with God.”*

All my earthly writer tools are valuable, but the absolute best, ultimate tool for any task is found when I’m on my knees in prayer.
