What I Learned From The Bible About Writing - Part 2: Foreshadowing

The Bible is PACKED full of foreshadowing. The message of Jesus can be seen all through the pages of the Old Testament, but this is my favorite.

From Genesis 5, the genealogy that stretches from Adam to Noah. Check out the meaning of their names:

Hebrew    English

Adam         Man
Seth           Appointed
Enosh         Mortal
Kenan        Sorrow
Mahalalel    The Blessed God
Jared          Shall come down
Enoch          Teaching
Methuselah   His death shall bring
Lamech        The despairing
Noah           Rest, or comfort

As in:
Man, appointed mortal sorrow. The Blessed God shall come down, teaching. His death shall bring the despairing, rest.

When we look at the New Testament, we see foreshadowing of the end times, the book of Revelation.

Nothing is wasted.
Everything has meaning and points to what is to come.
