Susette Williams loves writing various genres; anything from romance,
mystery, suspense to even children’s stories. She usually can't resist the urge
to let her ornery sense of humor shine through in one of her characters and has
always believed that laughter helps you deal with the obstacles life puts in
your way.
Susette and Robert Williams have six children. Family get-togethers are
exciting and boisterous, something treasured even more with the three oldest
children being married, and only the three teens left at home.
She writes fast paced books that readers will devour quickly and want to
read more.
Do you always add a touch of humor to
your stories?
I don’t always set out to,
but somehow, a bit of my orneriness creeps into one character or another. Even
if a story is ‘heavier’ not every character is going to be having the same
struggles or problems, or they may handle it different. We deal with some of
the problems we have faced with humor.
I really enjoyed writing Maid for You: Deadly Business because it
allowed me to cut loose and go all-out with my humor. I love making people
laugh, even if it is at me. The story is told from Bailey’s point of view. I
wanted to write a story that readers could feel for the heroine and be embarrassed
for her as well. She’s fun and exciting and apparently doesn’t know how to stay
out of trouble!
What made you decide to write a novella
series?
I have always loved novella
collections, but most of the times the stories don’t truly connect as well with
each other. I wanted to write a story about four friends and have their lives
intertwined. Each story is set in a different seasons and sets the tone for the
story in that season. Where one story leaves off, the next story picks up, so
it is important to read them in order.
Do you find it hard to come up with
story ideas?
Everything that goes on
around me is potential for a story–so be careful, whatever you say or do end up
in a story. In Falling in Love there
was a scene involving a dinner theatre. My husband had actually taken me to one
for Valentine’s Day and I incorporated that into my story.
I have more story ideas than
I could physically write in the next ten years! So, expect to see the stories
to continue coming! The next one to be published is Maid for Murder: Deadly Business and will be released the end of
October.
What advice do you have for other
aspiring writers?
Write, research and learn
good marketing techniques! They are all very important aspects of becoming a
successful author. I began writing when my twins were only 10 months old, plus
I had another child who wasn’t even 3 yet, and 3 other children who were
between 8 to 12 years old. If I can do it, anybody can!
Keep in mind that if you
write one page a day, take off the weekends, you can write 264 pages in a year!
That is 66,000 words! Maybe it takes you longer than you hoped to write a book
in, but it is still progress and an achievable goal! Never set goals that are
constantly beyond your reach because you will only set yourself up for failure.
You need to set attainable goals so that you can feel invigorated when you
obtain your goals and it will encourage you to succeed!

in Love will be available as a Free Kindle Download October 20 through October

Bruce Harrington was on his way to a very important meeting. That was until a
