Susette Williams (Free Kindle Download)

Susette Williams loves writing various genres; anything from romance, mystery, suspense to even children’s stories. She usually can't resist the urge to let her ornery sense of humor shine through in one of her characters and has always believed that laughter helps you deal with the obstacles life puts in your way.
Susette and Robert Williams have six children. Family get-togethers are exciting and boisterous, something treasured even more with the three oldest children being married, and only the three teens left at home.
She writes fast paced books that readers will devour quickly and want to read more.

Do you always add a touch of humor to your stories?

I don’t always set out to, but somehow, a bit of my orneriness creeps into one character or another. Even if a story is ‘heavier’ not every character is going to be having the same struggles or problems, or they may handle it different. We deal with some of the problems we have faced with humor.

I really enjoyed writing Maid for You: Deadly Business because it allowed me to cut loose and go all-out with my humor. I love making people laugh, even if it is at me. The story is told from Bailey’s point of view. I wanted to write a story that readers could feel for the heroine and be embarrassed for her as well. She’s fun and exciting and apparently doesn’t know how to stay out of trouble!

What made you decide to write a novella series?

I have always loved novella collections, but most of the times the stories don’t truly connect as well with each other. I wanted to write a story about four friends and have their lives intertwined. Each story is set in a different seasons and sets the tone for the story in that season. Where one story leaves off, the next story picks up, so it is important to read them in order.

Do you find it hard to come up with story ideas?

Everything that goes on around me is potential for a story–so be careful, whatever you say or do end up in a story. In Falling in Love there was a scene involving a dinner theatre. My husband had actually taken me to one for Valentine’s Day and I incorporated that into my story.

I have more story ideas than I could physically write in the next ten years! So, expect to see the stories to continue coming! The next one to be published is Maid for Murder: Deadly Business and will be released the end of October.

What advice do you have for other aspiring writers?

Write, research and learn good marketing techniques! They are all very important aspects of becoming a successful author. I began writing when my twins were only 10 months old, plus I had another child who wasn’t even 3 yet, and 3 other children who were between 8 to 12 years old. If I can do it, anybody can!

Keep in mind that if you write one page a day, take off the weekends, you can write 264 pages in a year! That is 66,000 words! Maybe it takes you longer than you hoped to write a book in, but it is still progress and an achievable goal! Never set goals that are constantly beyond your reach because you will only set yourself up for failure. You need to set attainable goals so that you can feel invigorated when you obtain your goals and it will encourage you to succeed!

Do have a couple specials this month?

Yes, my first novella in Seasons of the Heart, Falling in Love will be available as a Free Kindle Download October 20 through October 22.

Also, The Quakers of New Garden is on special all month long for Nook and Kindle for $2.99.

FALLING IN LOVE (Seasons of the Heart)

Katie Morgan has her future planned. It doesn't include becoming serious about anyone before she achieves her goals, not even her handsome boss. Just because she does not have time to date, doesn't mean her boss shouldn't. Her new mission...to make her boss happy, whether or not he wants to be.

Wade McAlester fell in love with Katie the first day she walked into his clinic looking for a job. He hired her, content to settle for friendship until she lives out her dream of becoming a vet. Against his better judgment, Wade allows her to fix him up with a couple of her friends. The dates are disastrous. He can't believe the kind of women Katie seems to think he'd enjoy spending his life with. However, when Wade's old colleague, Dr. Laura Redmond shows up, Katie is rethinking how happy she wants her boss to be, and with whom. Definitely not the gorgeous doctor.

WINTER CHILL (Seasons of the Heart)

When Sasha Steinfeld sees Katie Morgan's engagement ring, she realizes it could have been her. If only she wasn't so frigid around men. Overcoming the past isn't easy, but Sasha knows she must if she ever wants to find the same happiness Katie has found.

The last person Forrest Tucker expects to see when he gets to his cabin is Sasha. He thinks Sasha is a bit different, although he's never concerned himself with why. Now she is trying to break into his cabin. When he realizes she's injured, Forrest does what any good citizen would do--if they were helping someone else.

When Forrest learns the secret behind Sasha's chilly personality, he sets out to help her thaw.

Abbey Martin isn’t willing to be the kind of ‘player’ her boss wants her to be. When he threatens to not promote her because she refuses to get in ‘compromising’ positions, she quits.

If a day can go from bad to worse, it does for Abbey. She runs into Bruce Harrington on her way home—literally.

Bruce Harrington was on his way to a very important meeting. That was until a raving lunatic with brown, bouncy hair spiraled towards him in her car and then on foot. Maybe he should count it a blessing that when she sent him cascading over the side of the embankment—he wasn’t in his car.

To make amends for causing Bruce to break a leg, Abbey becomes his chauffeur and helpmate until he recovers.

When his cast is about to come off he has to face losing Abbey. There has to be some way he can keep her from walking out of his life forever. If a job offer won’t do it then perhaps it’s time for a proposal.

THE QUAKERS OF NEW GARDEN (SALE: Download available for $2.99 through October!)

Four Quaker women face challenges of the heart. Ruth hesitates to give her bridegroom a third chance at love. Underground Railroad worker Deborah meets a bounty hunter. Leah tries to turn a marriage of convenience into a marriage of love. Christian Jaidon falls for Quaker Catherine. Will love endure in their hearts and lives?

MAID FOR MURDER: DEADLY BUSINESS (Coming Soon)

Bailey inherits her grandfather’s business, Maid for You, but cleaning up dead body parts wasn’t part of the job description. Bailey hopes to wipe out crime with the help of Nate, her computer hacker assistant, despite protests of their involvement in the case from Detective Max Wellington. When Bailey catches the culprits arranging to dispose of another body, she's out to help the two of them dig their own grave and if she’s lucky, Detective Max Wellington will keep them from arranging her funeral.
